Church life

Courses/Training

Nurture_NatureIn HCC, we encourage individuals to grow in their faith through teaching, prayer, personal discipleship and the fellowship and support of other Christians.  We also provide specific training/discipleship opportunities through various courses which are run throughout the year.  Normally run centrally, some may also be delivered through our small groups (life groups).

For someone on a journey of faith and discipleship, formal training opportunities might include the following (which we sometimes refer to as Essential Christian Training):

Alpha - a course, based around a meal together, for those seeking to find more about the Christian faith

First Steps - an opportunity for new Christians to understand the basics of their faith, working one-to-one with a more experienced Christian

Life group involvement - we encourage everyone to get involved in a local life group as soon as possible (see Life Group section for more details)

Freedom in Christ - a course for any Christian which gives participants a framework for dealing with issues from the past that may have held them back, and for moving on to spiritual maturity

Searching Issues - a post-Alpha opportunity to explore the Christian perspective on key topical issues

Commitment series - an opportunity to meet with our key leaders to learn more about HCC and what it means to be a member

Baptismal preparation - for those who have come into a new relationship with Jesus, this is an opportunity to explore the meaning of believer's baptism and to prepare for this important milestone in your Christian life

Blowing Your Cover - an innovative course, first introduced at HCC in 2005, for looking at how we can all share our faith, in different ways, through relational evangelism

Christian Academy - a Bible school on your doorstep!  Dip into individual modules, or do the full course over two years or longer.

Ministry Team training - for those joining the team who are designated for praying with and supporting others, particularly during times on ministry on Sundays

Life group Link training - our Life groups are lead by Links, who are trained in how to facilitate the groups, care for those within them and encourage our focus on cell values

Leadership and Ministry Training - a one-year, part-time course for those seeking to serve effectively within the local church, whether full-time, part-time or on a voluntary basis

Individual care, nurture and discipleship is also provided by each other within our life groups and by our team of pastoral staff.
