Welcome to the information page for Huntingdonshire Community Church's youth work. Have a read, and if you would like to know more then just email or call us. We'd love to hear from you.
On this page you'll get to know what's important to us, what we do and information on how you can join in.
You don't have to be a Christian to join in, you just have to be breathing and between the age of 11 and 18!
HCC youth work is made up of people from a lot different backgrounds and ages, so you'll find it easy to be part of what we do.
Who we are
Mission is all about what our purpose is and what we have been asked to do.
God is in search of man. He has loved us and been in search of a relationship with each and every one of us for a very long time. The story of this God/ human relationship starts with the first human (Adam) doing wrong against God. The result of this wrong is a broken relationship between God and us, and the way this is fixed is for God to forgive us. If we think that we've done nothing wrong and it was all Adam's problem, not ours, then ask yourself if you are perfect? If you're not then you need forgiving, if you are perfect then please let the rest of us know your secret!
Jesus is the good news in this story. His mission on earth was to bring the forgiveness of God to us. Humans should be punished by God for the wrong we do, but Jesus has taken that punishment instead of us and through all this we can be forgiven by God. This means that this God/ human relationship God wants is totaly possible again and available to everyone, no matter what. What needs to be done is to ask God to forgive us, to ask Jesus to be 100% part of our lives and commit our lives to follow him.
Our mission is to tell and show everyone this great news. God is searching for us, like a father looking for a lost son, and He wants us to be in the place we were made to be in. That place is having a relationship with Him. Once we believe in this great news, then who would want to keep it to themselves? No one should, so we go and tell more people about it, and the mission continues until as many people hear this good news as possible.
Values are what we judge all our work by. They are things that we believe Jesus lived by, and that the early church lived by. There are six values which are:
one: to be authentic with God and people (create a God-centred community)
two: to be biblical (we believe the Bible is true and relevant for today)
three: to be Holy Spirit dependent (the Holy Spirit gives us gifts, power and guidance to bring hope and life to people)
four: to be transforming (to show how God can change lives and communities because He loves us more than we know)
five: to go! (Jesus asked us to tell as many people as possible about this possible God relationship, and not keep it to ourselves)
six: to train and equip (help discover talents and gifts and create opportunity to use them, and also to equip people to follow Jesus' ways)
